God Always Wins - Pastor Mark

I must admit a bit of guilt in not having the time to make a blog post about each and every team that graces our community with their hard working helping hands and encouraging support. With four or five church groups here on a regular basis, all busy at the task at hand, I sometimes do not even meet everyone, much less spend any quality time with them.

So, with sincere apology to all the other great folks who have worked with us over the past several weeks, let me mention Providence Baptist Church and my new good friend, Pastor Mark Lukens.

Twenty-three members (about half their congregation) made the 30 hour trek from Franklin, MA to Laskeshore MS last week. During the day they worked hard rehabbing houses in our community. In the evenings they put on a Vacation Bible School.

Using the Children Desiring God curriculum, “God Always Wins,” they pointed to the almighty power of God who rules supreme over all things. Seeing the awsome power of God at work directs us to authentic worship of our never failing King.

During the day the God-centered team carried the same theme into homes as they hung sheet rock and shared Christ. Each day they would return to camp with reports of evangelistic opportunities, excited about seeing God draw people to Himself.

I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with Pastor Mark and his team, the late nights talking theology, the overflowing enthusiasm from his folks, the long days of hard work they acomplished, the love they demonstrated toward our community kids, our tear filled prayer meeting; oh, and yes, the stack of John Piper books they blessed me with. 🙂

I pray that God would continue to pour out his grace and strength upon this vivacious fellowship of believers as they continue to spread a passion for the supremacy of Christ over all things in their local community, across the country, and around the globe to the glory of God.

Memorial Baptist Church in Bogalusa has done quiet a bit for this group of people from October until now and I have not seen any mention of their helping. Their youth came to you near Christmas and did a fun day for your youth and their brotherhood prepared a meal. They came on a Sunday Afternoon in October with a huge covered trailer and seven other vehicles loaded with items for you. The youth department furnished the hams for the Christmas event and the church furnished lots of other items. I know that these people did not do this for personal glory but for the glory of our Savior but they should have some recognition also, not just those that came from far away. Monica Miller and Brad Triana have done lots for your people also.

Brother Don,
God’s grace is poured out on you.Our goal in coming to you was to only help where we could and to be a blessing to you, your staff, and family. While it was nice to see our small church name in print…..
Col 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

No man need ever know the things we do for our King, yet He misses not an ounce of service. We continue to pray for you and all that you physically and spiritually endure.
Be encouraged, brother and peace be with you.
