We snapped this picture in Lakeshore 5 days after the storm. The Gulfview elementary school had already become a staging ground for search and rescue personnel, but some of the debris, like this upside down van still remained. Later we gained access to the grounds and convinced FEMA to establish a POD (point of distribution) for water and ice in Lakeshore rather than requiring residence to make their way into Waveland for necessary supplies.
