Last month I posted a brief run down of the Week of April 2. It demonstrated a typical week in the relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts here in Lakeshore. I followed that post with several pictures of Foundations, Flooring, and Film Crews. I wanted to follow with that weeks’s images of working inside and out as we do top down rehab, but I am just now finding the time to post them. Since then, another month has flown by with literally hundreds of volunteers passing through Lakeshore.
We call our current stage “top down” rehab of flooded homes because after gutting the house down to its studs, we start with replacing the roof, and work our way down with electrical, plumbing, sheet rock, and flooring. The pictures below show several homes we worked on that week.
We also have just begun “bottom up” new construction for those who’s homes were destroyed completely.

Pastor Elbourne,
Thank you for keeping us posted on the progress of the rebuilding of Lakeshore. It’s exciting to see the Lord move His people to serve — even tho sometimes it takes gale force winds to do it! My teen daughter is there this week with a crew from our church in western PA. Say hi to Hannah for me!
Don,
You have a real construction team going on. Looks like you could use a nail gun for roofing, really speeds up the process. We look forward to working with you in a few weeks. Glad to hear the volunteers are still lining up to serve our Lord with you all. What a wonderful opportunity for our young adults to experience God getting you through any task He leads you to. Bet they never worked so hard at home! Blessings and prayers for daily rest and refreshment for all involved.

Don,
It’s good to find some news about you guys!
Often when there is some mention of New Orleans and/or the hurricane at least one of my kids asks if I’ve found any info about you and your family! We have prayed for ya’ll and will continue praying as the work goes on…

The group from PA has been such a blessing. Hannah and her friend have been a joy to work with. They have been working hard in the distribution center and I’m sure they will come home full of stories to tell. Thank you so much for allowing your teen daughter to travel so far from home to serve Christ in such a tangible way.
Mark and Marlyn, we look forward to seeing you again. We have made tremendous progress since your first trip down shortly after the storm, but we have such a long way to go. God continues to pour out his blessings upon us and shower us with his sustaining grace.
Jipster! Its good to hear from you, Deanna. Tell Tim and your rug rats hello for me. I see you now have a blog. Cool. I’ll have to try to find the time to sneak a peek into the mind of Jipster. Scarry. 🙂
Don, I was just thinking about you and that whole region the other day.
Thanks for putting up the pictures.
