Lifepointe Fellowship planned a mission trip to Arkansas, but God had other plans for them this summer. Ten days before the nearly 60 person group were to hit the road, their destination project fell through. As mission trip veterans, they turned to one of their previous mission trip partners, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Baptist Association. Dionne Williams directed them to a number of projects, including several here at Lakeshore Baptist Church.
In God’s providence, one of their members brought his bucket truck, that proved invaluable. When our steeple fell late last year, it not only damaged the main roof, but also the covered portico off the side of the building. The men replaced the cracked 20′ beam, repaired the rafters, re sheeted the damaged plywood, and secured a tarp over the whole structure. The building is now ready to be re roofed, which we pray will happen very soon.
The team also hung sheet rock and a porch ceiling at the Pastor’s Cabin next door to the church. The bunk house wrap-around porch received a fresh coat of water seal. Others worked on several projects around the church property, not the least of which was some major reorganizing of donations for the Mercy House. It was amazing how much this group accomplished.
After going so long without mission teams last year, it was such a joy to have the church grounds buzzing with activity once again. I can not thank Pastor Doak Taylor, Marc Verlander, and their entire team for the tremendous amount of encouragement they brought.
