Can you recite the 10 Commandments in order? Reformation Church, of Baker LA, spent June 10-13 with us for a Mission Trip / Retreat. They asked me to do most of the teaching where we focused on the Decalogue. Over the long weekend they memorized the 10 commandments from Exodus 20 as a foundation for being like the blessed man of Psalm 1 who’s “delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” The sessions included:
- Introduction to the 10 Commandments: Hiding God’s Word in Our Hearts
- The 3 Categories of the Old Testament Law: Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral
- The 3 Uses of the Moral Law: A Muzzle, a Mirror, and a Map
- The 2 Tables of the Law: Horizontal and Vertical
- The Moral Law, the Character of God, and the Glory of Christ
They also prepared the Pastor’s Cabin for sheet rock and other work planned for the following week, worked in the garden, and did miscellaneous other things around the Rebuild Lakeshore property. It was a great time with these brothers and sisters in Christ and some of them are already planning a return trip.
