Even before August 29, 2005 God began assembling a team to work in Lakeshore during the summer of 2007. Out of the overwhelming gracious flood of resources, aid, and assistance God continues to pour into our community, in the wake of hurricane Katrina, the most valuable have been the willing hearts of his people who come work along side of us in the relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts.
In addition to the countless volunteer teams that come week after week, I think of some of our own church members like James, Bea, Lynn, and others who serve as full time volunteers in the work. JoEll, who used to be the church pianist, now serves as my administrative assistant. I praise God for folks like Greg London, from Georgia, who came to Lakeshore just days after the storm and continues to work with us selflessly for the glory of God. Jamie, from Wisconsin, has now worked with us for over a year. I don’t think I could have made it this far without the sustaining grace of God that he surrounds me with in the form of these fellow believers and co-laborers in the faith and work.
Our full summer schedule, with nearly 2000 volunteers heading to the gulf coast in the next few months, calls for an even wider leadership team. God, in his providence has sent us a crew of young energetic leaders to help oversee and implement the work along with us.
Doug, Kristy, and Andrew come to us from Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky. Doug, a Southern Seminary student, serves as the Church Administrator at IBC and they have graciously “loaned” him to us for the summer. Andrew and Kristy are students at Boyce College. Joel teaches school in Florida and attends church at Cornerstone Community Church. Jamie is from Wisconsin (Rolling Hills Church). All five of them represent Founders friendly churches who share our passion to see Christ exalted at every level of the work God has granted us to do for his glory.
If you have not book marked it yet, don’t forget to check out Jamie’s blog, Because of grace. Joel also keeps a great blog dubbed Joel’s Journeys. With this crew, it looks to be a interesting, labor-intensive, work-accomplishing, self-sacrificing, joy-filled, Christ-exalting, hot summer to the glory of God.

The key word here is interesting….”With this crew, it looks to be a interesting, labor-intensive, work-accomplishing, self-sacrificing, joy-filled, Christ-exalting, hot summer to the glory of God.”
Actually I’m grateful for this group of people. I can’t think of a better group of folks to work with.
Can’t wait to meet everyone. This is going to be a life-changing event for our church, and I know we’ll learn something from all of you about “being the church”, not just doing church.
Brother Don,
I am sending you a lot of prayers that you survive the summer with this group! Just kidding, they are a great group. We enjoyed our week (plus or minus a few days) and were glad we could help with your storage needs.
God’s peace and blessings,

It was amazing to spend a week with you guys and see what God has done through each of you in Lakeshore. I came with a group of high school students from Augusta, GA and to see the impact you each had on their lives in such a short time is something I won’t forget. Keep working for the Lord. It is only through Him that makes it all worth it.
